Design
Compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations are not one-size-fits-all, like gasoline or diesel stations. Building a CNG fueling station for a small fleet, a large fleet, or a retail application requires taking into consideration the necessary elements unique to your operations. Making the right choices about the size of compressor, the storage, the dryer, and the dispensers makes a big difference in the cost of the CNG fueling station and its ability to meet your current and future needs.
There are some key pieces of information needed to properly size a CNG fueling station. As with any project, the more information you have; the more accurate an estimate can be given. You should begin by considering the type of vehicles that will be refueled, how many vehicles will be refueling at this site, how much CNG each vehicle requires, the timeframe in which the vehicles must be fueled, the type of dispensers, and if a card lock system is required.
